Foreigners built The Road centuries ago. Its construction differed from ones that they had built before; this landscape was wilder than they had previously conquered.

The Foreigners’ eventual failure is memorialized by the Wall; constructed to protect them from The Barbarians, a Clan who never wished to leave their land.

Child descendants of The Clan are told stories of The Road that lies beneath the fields in which they play. They dig into the Earth in search of remains left by the Foreigners.

Some Clan Children construct their own Roads in new lands, becoming Foreigners themselves.
